FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Are your liquid cultures made from spore or tissue?
All of our liquid cultures are made from live tissue - never spore. We isolate live tissue that has been grown out on agar, then test that isolation to ensure vigor and viability before a batch of liquid culture is made.
  • Are cultures safe to ship during winter?
Yes! Canada Post keeps packages in a temperature-controlled warehouse and delivery truck to ensure items don't freeze. To ensure cultures do not freeze in your outdoor mailbox overnight, we recommend you purchase tracking to know exactly when your cultures are delivered.
  • What are the ingredients of your liquid culture broth?
We use distilled water, a 4% concentration of light malt extract and dextrose, and live mycelium.
  • A culture I ordered appears to be contaminated.. Now what?
Please let us know as soon as possible! We offer a risk-free purchase and will either refund or re-ship a culture if it doesn't work out for you.
  • What are the ingredients in your spore syringes?
We only use distilled water and freshly collected spores.
  • What are your payment methods?
We currently accept all major credit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal.
  • Do you store payment methods?
We do not - our credit card processors are the only ones that can see credit card information. We only see payment totals and who the payment was made from.
  • Do you accept cryptocurrency?
Yes! Please get in touch with us to use this payment method and we'll send you our deposit address.
  • Do you sell psychedelic/magic mushrooms?
We do not sell any psychedelic mushrooms of any type - please do not ask.
  • I want to grow magic mushrooms... Can you help me?
We are unable to help or provide direction on how to grow psychedelic mushrooms.
  • What are your typical processing times?
We've greatly increased our stock which has helped reduced processing times! Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days once payment is received.
  • What carriers do you use for shipping?
We almost always ship with Canada Post however, if you prefer an alternate carrier, please get in touch with us to make arrangements.
  • Where do you currently ship products?
We only ship domestically within Canada at this time.
  • Can I provide my own shipping label?
Yes! Please get in touch with us to provide us a pre-paid shipping label for your package.
  • My package arrived opened and/or damaged!
Please take photos of the damaged item(s) and get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can arrange for a refund or replacement.
  • What are the different types of spawn?
The three main types of spawn include: • Grain spawn for making grow bags • Plug spawn for growing on logs • Sawdust spawn for creating garden beds and totem-style log grows Deciding on which spawn to use depends on the approach you plan to take to grow mushrooms!
  • How is your mushroom spawn created?
All of our mushroom spawn originates from mushroom mycelium that is first inoculated on rye grains prepared in-house. Once our grains are freshly colonized (1st generation spawn), we then inoculate plugs, sawdust, or more grain spawn to continue the growth (2nd generation).
  • What grains do you use to make your sterilized grain bags?
We use locally sourced rye for all of our grain bags.
  • What type of bags do your sterilized grains come in?
Our hydrated grain is loaded and sterilized in an industry-standard Unicorn grow bag. All of our grain spawn bags contain a self-healing injection port for easy inoculation and are ready to use upon arrival.
  • How are your sterilized grain bags prepared?
Our locally sourced rye grain is first soaked in filtered water for 12 hours, simmered to increase hydration, air-dried, then loaded into Unicorn grow bags. The bags are then pressure sterilized at 15psi for 2.5 hours and allowed to cool to room temperature before being shipped to customers.
  • How do I store my sterilized grains?
Our sterilized grain bags are completely sterile and impulse sealed in a high-quality grow bag. We recommend using them within 3 months of purchase if stored at room temperature. Similar to our sterilized substrates, we recommend storing your sterilized grain bags in a box on a counter or shelf to ensure dust, dirt, and/or debris does not coat the bags prior to use.
  • How do I store sterile substrates?
Sterile substrates should be kept at room temperature or slightly cooler and out of direct sunlight. If not being used for some time, we suggest placing them inside of a box on a counter or shelf to avoid excessive amounts of dirt, dust, and/or debris from landing on the bags.
  • How long will sterile substrates last?
Each bag of substrate is impulse sealed in a high-quality grow bag and if stored properly, can last up to 6 months before we suggest either re-sterilizing at home with proper equipment or purchasing a replacement.
  • Do I need to store sterile substrate in the fridge?
Refrigeration is not necessary. Storing sterile substrates in a box at room temperature and on a counter or shelf will extend their life.
  • How are your sterile substrates made?
We make all of our sterile substrates by hand and in small batches using time-proven recipes. Once loaded into grow bags and impulse sealed, they are pressure sterilized at 15psi for 2.5 hours and allowed to cool to room temperature before being shipped to customers.
  • Are your substrates guaranteed contamination free?
Absolutely! Although we rarely deal with contamination in our substrates, we stand by our quality guarantee and will either refund or replace if you run into an issue with our sterile substrates.
